Our vines, between the sea and the Metaponto plain

The vineyards, trained on trellises over medium-textured soils and shaped by the nearby sea, give wines of fine structure and freshness, bound to the climate and soils of the Metaponto plain.

Among the varieties we grow, Primitivo was chosen as the first interpreter of the winemaking project of Tenuta Marinella 1889. From 100% Primitivo grapes come dea Hera, a full-bodied, velvety red, and dea Hebe, a fresh and balanced rosé.

Tenuta Marinella 1889 is today the result of a story made of roots, continuity and steady work over time.

The estate

A farmhouse nestled in the ancient Magna Graecia region

Tenuta Marinella is a classic “masseria” (farmhouse) of the Southern Italian countryside, recognisable by its striking arched vaults, a symbol of the Basilicata rural architecture.

Located near the ancient Greek colony of Metaponto, a few steps from the sea and right beside the Temple of Hera, the estate sits in a landscape rich in history and culture.
